Schema (JSON-LD), what it is and why it is written.
Schema is structured data that tells search engines and AI systems what the information on a page is, in machine language. The JSON-LD format leaves the page layout untouched; it sits inside one script tag and is the format Google recommends.
The right schema makes a page eligible for rich results (stars, breadcrumbs, FAQ) and helps AI answers recognise the organisation, address and author correctly. This tool builds the code from a form; the Schema Checker audits the schema of a live page.
Which schema for which page.
Every page type has its own schema. Organisation on the home page, local business on contact and branch pages, article on blog posts, breadcrumbs on every inner page. FAQ schema is added only when the page really has a question-and-answer section.
Since 2023 Google shows the FAQ rich result only for authoritative government and health sites; today the value of FAQ schema lies mostly in AI systems reading questions and answers correctly.
| Type | Page | Required fields |
|---|---|---|
FAQPage | A page with an FAQ section | name, acceptedAnswer |
Organization | Home page, about | name, url |
LocalBusiness | Contact, branch | name, address |
Article | Blog post, news | headline, author, datePublished |
BreadcrumbList | Every inner page | name, item |
Three details in your schema.
- 01
Identity links (@id)
When the organisation, website and page nodes are linked with @id, AI systems understand they belong to the same entity.
- 02
Verification with sameAs
LinkedIn, the Google Business Profile and other official profiles are listed in sameAs; this strengthens how the brand is recognised.
- 03
Dates and authors
In articles the publish and update dates, plus the author’s name and page, are trust signals; dates use the ISO 8601 format (2026-10-29).

Schema generation, what people ask.
The most asked questions about JSON-LD, schema types and validation.
Back to the ToolIt builds JSON-LD structured data for your page from a form you fill in. The code is copied and added to the page’s head or body.
Google reads all three formats but recommends JSON-LD: it sits in one block without touching the page’s HTML, is easy to maintain and less error-prone.
Google no longer shows the FAQ rich result for most sites. Marking up on-page questions and answers still helps AI systems read the content correctly; the schema covers only questions and answers visible on the page.
After adding the code to the page you can check the address in our Schema Checker or in Google’s Rich Results Test. The tool shows a warning above the code when a required field is empty.
Yes. A blog post can carry Article, BreadcrumbList and Organization together. Each sits in its own script tag or in a single @graph array.
No. The code is generated in your browser; the form content is not sent to our server.
